An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India, Rukshana Tabassum is a filmmaker, writer, an artist and a trained classical dancer all in one. She's received hands-on training in various aspects of filmmaking by assisting reputed filmmakers like Mani Kaul, Kumar Shahani and Milan Luthria. She's also produced content at Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Balaji Motion Pictures before starting out on her own as a freelance writer-director.
In 2017, she won her very first National Film Award - A Jury Special Mention in the non-feature fiction category for her film, 'The Cake Story', produced by the Children's Film Society of India. In 2019, she won her second National Film Award in the Best Educational Film category for the film, 'Apples and Oranges', produced by LXL Ideas.
Her feature length documentary, 'The Social Solution', produced by Anand Mahindra has also received its well deserved recognition. She has also directed multiple TVCs and Digital Films for prominent clients like Reliance, Godrej, Kent RO Systems, Odisha Tourism and Nestle.
In 2020, Rukshana Tabassum had the honor of representing India at a month-long exchange program in the USA, 'Film As a Medium for Social Change', organized by the US Department of State.
